So happy to still have these beauties in bloom! Iceland Poppies like a cool growing season. To keep them going through the heat waves, I make sure to keep them very well hydrated, which means watering them well in the early mornings or evenings on days we don’t have rain. Let’s see if they can last through the end of June!

First dahlia of the season! Cornel Bronze dahlia here. 🥰

More of my cool flowers are coming into bloom (along with nasturtium and cosmos 😊). Here we have rudbeckia, scabiosa, nasturtium, cosmos, feverfew, and more rudbeckia. The rudbeckia, scabiosa, and feverfew were all planted in the fall and overwintered unprotected in the garden. They are bringing such a sunny summer vibe to bouquets right now. 🥰

Welcome, June! June is a great month in the garden. Summer annuals start to bloom and we still have some of the remaining late spring bloomers. All of the garden looks so lush before the true heat of DC summer kicks in! 😜 Here’s to June gardens!

Spring is in full swing with anemones, ranunculus, tulips, snapdragons, sweet peas, alliums, orlaya, geum, and, yes, sunflowers! Each year I experiment with growing an early batch of sunflowers and I am so excited to have them for these early spring bouquets. 😍🌻
