Today I’m moving into the library at our Woodley Park project. Our clients knew they would never use this large dining room as a formal dining space, so they wanted to convert it to a space they knew they would use: a cozy library and bar area where grown ups can have a conversation, read, hop on their laptop, or have that dirty martini they’ve been waiting for all week.

Original pocket doors create separation to the more kid-centered family room, but nothing in this space is too precious so little people can hang in here too.

Next up at our Woodley Park project is the family room. It’s situated just off the open kitchen and breakfast nook. There is no “formal” living room in this house, so this room does heavy lifting as the play space for young kiddos and adult hang out space when hosting. Our clients love vintage as much as we do, and we incorporated some of their amazing finds alongside newly-sourced vintage pieces and custom upholstery.

One of my favorite pieces is the vintage cabinet, which not only holds the record player, but provides storage for toys and games inside.

New work! We’ve been waiting to share these for awhile, but I hope it was worth the wait 😉

A couple of years ago, my team and I had the pleasure of collaborating with Amanda McClements, founder and creative director of Salt & Sundry, to renovate her historic Logan Circle townhome.

The result is a home with Victorian bones and a Mediterranean spirit. More details to come, including a deep dive on how we created that third-floor primary suite and shower (swipe to the end!).

We are so grateful for our clients who trusted us to help bring their vision to life and all of the skilled artisans and trades who make this magic happen.

Last stop at our Capitol Hill Victorian is the primary bedroom. My favorite feature in this room is that glorious bay window, which looks out onto the most charming tree-lined street.

This room has such great bones, so we kept things simple architecturally. Our clients are planning to add to their art collection so we left them some space to grow, but we layered on the texture to make sure the space feels cozy and warm.

The most challenging (and fun!) aspect of this project was the space planning for furniture placement.

Double parlors are always tricky because they are long and narrow. Our clients, a family of six, love to host so they needed to accommodate a LOT of people in this narrow space, which had the most amazing bones.

We took advantage of the bay window to add seating where you can perch and sip your coffee or hop on your laptop or just watch the world go by. We also created a seating zone centered on the fireplace, which is the natural focal point, and then added an additional seating area at the back of the room, which was centered on the tv.

This one was such a fun puzzle to solve. There are a lot of pieces in this space but they all serve a purpose.
