Gloss Black always looks so striking against the colorful interior of the fortune cookie. That “women who wear black lead colorful lives” quote in cookie sculpture.

“Til You Find It”

Over 250 hand-cut porcelain diamonds woven together to create this 12” x 24” wall hanging. Showing this weekend at AbstractsinAmericaGallery in downtown Wilmington.

The Sound of Music’s “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” was in my head while stitching together this piece, hence the name.

A little how-to on the Make Your Own Fortune set.

The set works by taking a small whimsical piece of sculpture and giving it purpose. It takes your goals, your hopes and dreams, and gives them a place to sit and inspire you while you are out there making them happen.

Each set comes with three blank slips of paper to get you started. Write your goal on a slip of paper and leave it somewhere you’ll see it often - a nightstand or entry table, perhaps. Every time you pass the cookie, you’ll be reminded of that goal you’re working on.

I’d like to go with Phillip to Iceland next year. He’s been a couple times, but I never have. So having that destination in mind keeps me focused. Reminds me that no, Kathleen, you don’t need another black sweater because you already have ten so go put that money in the travel fund. Focusing helps because goodness knows there are so many fabulous black sweaters out there.

Make Your Own Fortune sets are available on my website. I’d also love to partner with a few more retailers, so DM for wholesale info!

The Make Your Own Fortune Set can be personalized with your logo and a custom fortune in each box.

It’s a gift ideal for client thank yous, real estate closing gifts, and company celebrations.

What fortune are you making?

I had a little fun with these fortunes - a nod to a couple of our favorite shows.

Phillip got a new xToolOfficial printer which comes with test files of cats in famous paintings so he changed this one to our Camina, thereby creating the most adorable magnet ever.

Also, you guys, this is a ceramic tile magnet which means it prints like this on ceramic and my brain is exploding a wee bit with the possibilities.

Following months of researching and planning, I am delighted to unveil the redesigned packaging for the Make Your Own Fortune Set.

The handmade ceramic fortune cookie is the same beloved mini sculpture you’ve come to know and love, but now comes in a custom round gift box with an updated guidance card.

When the set is opened, it reveals a message on the inside - “For the life you’re making.” Because that is at the heart of this set. Taking your goals and dreams and giving them form and focus.

The updated sets are available on our website, along with a few new color options.

The new packaging was dropped off at Eclipse Artisan Boutique this afternoon, and will be delivered to Cameron Art Museum Shop on Tuesday, September 22.

I hope you all love the new boxes as much as I do! Please let me know what you think.

Every fortune cookie in the Make Your Own Fortune Set starts out as a slab of stoneware clay. Rolled to about 1/8” thick and cut into circles using a biscuit cutter. Underglaze is applied to one side of the slab circle (because I like the unexpected pop of color on the interior of the cookie). Then it is bent and formed and smoothed into the classic fortune cookie shape. They are dried over about the course of a week, slowly under plastic so they don’t crack. Then fired, glazed, and fired again. Each fortune cookie ends up being slightly different in either shape or glaze application or both, so they are as unique as the person welcoming them home.
