Today, we’re kicking off our before and after series of Mila’s Tudor: A renovation and addition located on the North Shore! This Tudor-style home is a historic property, so our goal was to match the character of the home, while also refreshing the existing spaces and adding some modern touches that fit with the clients’ style and lifestyle.

The Kitchen, highlighted here, is part of the new addition. In the spirit of the existing home, we carried the arch motif throughout the spaces, and mixed in stained cabinetry to create warmth. The modern lighting and furniture add a modern touch to the space. Swipe through to see the original Kitchen!

Last Friday, the EDA and EDI team took a break from office duties and toured in Lake Forest. It was a beautiful day to get out and see this amazing historic property - we are so lucky to have sites like these to engage with in our North Shore community!

The Dining Room and Butler’s Pantry of our French Provincial Project - some of our favorite rooms in this house. The deep purple lacquer in the Butler’s Pantry provides a fun pop of color as seen from mostly white Dining Room. We carried this color into the dining space via the custom chairs, which are upholstered in a combination of woven leather and fabric. Vintage lighting, brass hardware, and beautiful tabletop items from our clients’ collection complete the rooms.

Continuing the tour of our French Provincial Project: these photos are of the center Entry Hall, where the spiral staircase takes center stage. Connecting all three levels, this staircase also features a plaster dome above that can be seen from each floor. A big thanks to for helping to craft such an intricate and special element for this home. Swipe for some progress shots of the staircase being made!

More from our French Provincial Project: the Family Room, Living Room, and Music Room. All of these spaces use texture to complement the function of these rooms:

The reclaimed beams on the ceiling of the Family Room bring in a sense of warmth and coziness. The high gloss paint in the Living Room complements this space’s formality. Pictured last is the Music Room and Gallery. These rooms are located in their own wing on the western side of the house. The latticework and pale green paint complement the airy, cheerful feeling of being in a room surrounded by windows and views of the greenery outside. Definitely the spot to be in in the summer months!

For our French Provincial Project, the homeowner and EDI worked with to create two very special custom spaces - the bar area in the Family Room; and the vestibule connecting the Dining Room to the Sunroom. Swipe to see Julie’s amazing work, which makes this home even more special!

More from our French Provincial Project:

As you leave the eastern wing of the house you enter the center of the home, which includes the Kitchen. The white paint lets the brass hardware, range, and blue quartzite countertops sing. A pop of blue also comes via the Pantry and the breakfast table. Swipe to see where we hid the Pantry!

We are excited to share interior photos of our recently completed EDA x EDI New Construction project in Lake Forest, French Provincial.

Pictured first is the cheerful mudroom (staring our pal Gus) which features storage lockers, a laundry room, and plenty of space for Gus’ accessories. A Powder Room and Office finish out this wing, which connects to the rest of the house via a central, light-filled hallway.

More to come of this special project!
