Valentine’s Day so often centres on the individual — one love, one grand gesture, one perfect pairing.
But lately I’ve been thinking about a different kind of love.
The kind that shows up in small ways.
The kind that gathers when things feel fractured.
The kind that reminds us we belong to one another.
The quiet, steady force of community.
In a world that feels increasingly divided, where headlines are heavy and tensions run high, we are also witnessing something else.
People standing together.
Caring together.
Speaking together.
Holding one another through uncertainty.
Collective love is powerful.
It steadies nervous systems.
It softens fear.
It creates change not through force, but through presence.
Perhaps this Valentine’s Day can be about more than romance.
Perhaps it can be about tending to our friendships, our neighbours, our shared humanity.
Because while culture often tells us to focus on the self, it is community that sustains us.
And love, when multiplied, cannot be diminished.
Happy Community Valentine’s Day, dear community!
