Interior design is not just about picking pretty finishes.
Long before the tile, lighting, cabinetry, furniture, and paint colours are finalized, there are weeks and months of decisions happening behind the scenes.
Emails. Phone calls. Drawings. Site walk-throughs. Permit coordination. Contractor meetings. Product research. Scheduling. Revisions. Problem solving.
It is understanding bylaws, building codes, and the requirements of the 13 different municipalities we regularly work with across the region. It is coordinating consultants, contractors, engineers, suppliers, and trades while making hundreds of decisions that ultimately determine whether the design will actually work.
Because a beautiful design means very little if it cannot be built.
Construction planning is where ideas are tested. 3D visualizations help resolve details before they reach site. Drawings communicate intent. Contractor coordination keeps everyone moving in the same direction. And when a product is suddenly discontinued, a site condition is different than expected, or something simply does not work the way it did on paper, decisions need to be made quickly and thoughtfully.
That is why your designer's involvement should not end when the finishes are selected.
Having your designer continue through construction means having someone there who understands the why behind every decision. Someone who knows the overall vision, can answer questions as they arise, make difficult calls when something unexpected happens, and ensure that one small change does not compromise everything that came before it.
Someone who continues to walk the site.
Someone who keeps the details moving.
Someone who keeps the momentum flowing.
The finished space may be what everyone sees.
But it is the months of planning, coordination, drawings, conversations, site visits, and decisions behind it that make that finished space possible.
That is design, too.
