🎨 Hi, I’m Sally , a little introduction and a face to the name! 👋
For those who are new here, I thought I’d tell you a little about me and my journey.
My creative journey began at George Street School of Art, where I qualified as an Illustrator and Graphic Designer, before continuing my studies at the Cumbria Institute of the Arts.
Art has always been a huge part of my life, and in 2016 I took the leap and set up Sally Steele Fine Art, developing my own style, creating artwork and sharing my work with others. 🎨
Along the way, my career took me in another direction too. I trained as a mental health nurse, and I now work with older adults living with organic brain disease.
Interestingly, the two sides of my career have come together in a way I never really anticipated. My work in mental health has given me a deeper understanding of wellbeing, memory, connection and the importance of meaningful activity — things that I also see reflected in creativity and art. 💛
Now I’m incredibly excited to bring these experiences together in the next chapter of my journey, with my new studio at the Cannonwalls and Claverhouse in Kirkcudbright. I get the keys on 1st October! 🔑🎨
My hope is that the studio will become not only a place to create and showcase my artwork, but eventually a space for creative wellbeing workshops, particularly around older adults, memory work and mental health.
There’s lots to look forward to in 2027, including hopefully taking part in Spring Fling and the Kirkcudbright Art Trail.
Thank you for following my journey and supporting my art. I’m so excited to share this next chapter with you all! 💛
