A gift with meaning…

Recently, one of our bronze acorns found its way to a very special home; purchased by a husband for his wife to mark their wedding anniversary.

We can’t think of a more fitting gift.

Cast in bronze by the Suffolk studio of Pomarius, from a real British acorn, every tiny detail and natural imperfection is preserved forever.

A symbol of strength, growth, renewal and the passing of time. All things that feel especially poignant when celebrating a marriage.

Beautiful enough to treasure and meaningful enough to keep forever. An English jewel, made to become part of a story of its own.

This October marks an exciting milestone for AUTHOR Interiors as we make our Decorex International | Europe’s Luxury Interior Design Show debut.

We’re delighted to be joining one of the UK’s leading design events, showcasing our work alongside some of the most inspiring names in the world of interiors and design.

For our first Decorex, we’ll be introducing our latest pieces, materials and ideas, each created with the same considered approach to craftsmanship, character and timeless design that defines AUTHOR.

A luck fig!

We hold dear the close relationships we have with our makers.

And we are lucky that AUTHOR HQ is not too far from some exceptional studios where all kinds of British-made luxury pieces are designed and made.

Our friends Araminta Campbell ~ Luxury textile designer have an atelier just outside Edinburgh, where private clients can visit, watch, choose and even design their own stunning Scottish textile pieces.

We are very lucky to have them showcase some of the pieces made by our other makers who are scattered around the UK.

This weekend they sold one of these lovely bronze figs, handmade in Suffolk by Pomarius.

It was sold to a lovely custom design client for her daughter who wanted it as a lucky fig for her softball games in the upcoming season!

Who doesn’t need a lucky fig from time to time.

One of the pieces we’ll be taking with us to Decorex this October - Red Earth by Karl Koch.

Created by British-South African artist Carl through his studio, Paynes Grey, Red Earth is made from thousands of individually rolled, cut, dipped and assembled clay tiles.

Each tiny element is built by hand into something wonderfully organic and quietly mesmerising.

We love the way Carl’s work reflects the rhythm and complexity of nature; countless individual pieces coming together to create something greater than the sum of its parts.

Beautifully considered, hugely labour-intensive and a piece that rewards a closer look.

A bench in its purest, simplest form.

Designed and made by Namon Gaston in his Edinburgh workshop, the Wu Bench is a beautiful study in restraint.

Steam-bent oak supports, a vegetable-tanned bark leather seat and nothing unnecessary.

Winner in the Wood Awards for Production Furniture, it’s a piece that proves simplicity can have real presence.

Compact enough for a hallway, entrance or study, and designed to develop a beautiful patina with age, Wu is made to be lived with.

Some pieces are beautiful simply for the sake of being beautiful. Others are beautiful and incredibly useful. The Lily Cocktail table is both.

This beautiful tea set by Steve Cook is heading to its new home with a customer in Cyprus.

Inspired by a fusion of Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics, the design balances simplicity and beauty with a subtle touch of luxury.

Hand-thrown on the wheel in white porcelain, the set features a beautiful brass teapot handle and delicate gold inlay inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi. Japanese lacquer and gold powder are carefully applied before being burnished, creating a refined, distinctive finish.

A truly beautiful piece of British craftsmanship, which is also bespoke.

Following on from yesterday’s post featuring Jennie McCall’s horse head maquettes, today we’re sharing one of her stunning full-sized sculptures - ‘Clementia’.

Handcrafted in Jennie’s Midlands studio, Clementia is named after the Roman goddess of forgiveness and mercy, symbolising clemency.

Set on a blackened oak plinth, this beautifully unadorned horse head combines a wonderfully tactile, textured surface with an ethereal mane of handcrafted porcelain feathers; symbolic of purity and grace.

A truly unique piece, with subtle variations in shape and glaze making every sculpture one of a kind.

Equally at home in a traditional or contemporary interior, Clementia is a piece to be appreciated from every angle.

A little piece of British artistry.

Beautifully hand modelled in stoneware clay by ceramic sculptor and illustrator Jennie McCall in her Midlands studio, each horse head maquette is wonderfully unique, with subtle variations in shape and glaze.

Studio Ginniff’s The Barn oozes charm and is the ultimate ‘stop and admire’ piece.
