Obsessed with plants? Love crafting? Our next adult workshop is definitely for you!

Join us at Ragtags this June and learn how to make a fabulous Wet Felted Plant Pot.

This Adults Workshop is a relaxed, hands-on session where you’ll learn simple wet felting techniques to create your own unique plant pot - perfect for beginners, curious makers and anyone who fancies getting a little bit messy in the name of creativity.

Using wool fibres, water and soap, you’ll explore colour, texture and shaping to make a beautiful felt vessel for your favourite plant. No experience needed, just bring yourself and your willingness to have a go.

A lovely chance to slow down, make something with your hands and enjoy a bit of crafty time in good company.

Got a pre-schooler who loves to make, squish, splash, stick and generally cause a bit of creative chaos?

We’ve got some lovely pre-school sessions coming up at Ragtag, perfect for little hands, curious minds and grown-ups who don’t fancy cleaning paint off their own kitchen table.

Each session is relaxed, hands-on and designed especially for younger children to explore materials, build confidence and enjoy plenty of creative play.

Looking for a meaningful Fathers Day gift from the little ones with some quality family time thrown in?

Our Fathers Day portraits sessions are coming up and will help you do just that!

On Saturday 20th June, drop in to Ragtag in Kendal - bring a picture of your dad - or the big man himself - and create a special Father’s Day artwork using paper and card.

Children will start by drawing a simple portrait of their dad, grandad, or another special person in their life, then use paper and card to build it up. By ripping, folding, layering, and sticking, they can create raised and textured features such as hair, glasses, clothes, and facial details.

Using everyday materials, children can transform a flat drawing into a bold, 3D-style relief portrait full of personality and character. Every piece will look different, making each artwork a truly unique gift - a fabulous keepsake for Father’s Day, and fun activity to do together.

Parents and grandparents - have you ever taken a child to a crafty workshop and somehow ended up doing most of the craft yourself?

We’ve all been there. One minute you’re “just helping”, the next you’re fully committed, covered in glue, and emotionally invested in a toilet roll octopus.

Our Makers and Munchkins workshop is for you! A relaxed creative session where grown-ups get to enjoy a proper craft project of their own, while little ones play, explore and get stuck into all the lovely Ragtag chaos.

Your munchkin can enjoy our loose parts play area, Scrapstation and scribble space, while you settle in with a cuppa, meet other like-minded grown-ups and make something beautiful for yourself.

This month’s project is hand-stitched tote hangings, inspired by Indian traditions. You’ll create a beautiful vertical hanging that you can personalise with stitching, tassels, pom poms, buttons and beads. Keep it for yourself, gift it to someone special, or hang it proudly in your munchkin’s bedroom or nursery.

£20 per ticket includes:
• All materials for your craft project
• A hot drink for you
• Access to the Scrapstation, scribble area and loose parts play area for your child
• A warm, welcoming space to create, connect and play

Pride is for families, for communities and for celebrating everyone exactly as they are. 🫶

This Saturday, 6th June, we’re filling Ragtag with colour, creativity and proper feel-good Pride prep for the whole family. It’s a brilliant way to get the kids involved in Kendal Pride, spend some creative time together and show your support in a hands-on, heart-on-your-sleeve kind of way.

There’ll be loads to get stuck into:

🔹 Batik Banners Workshop
Help create beautiful batik panels on the theme This is Home, which will become part of the collage performance at Pride.

🔹 Hats & Streamers
Drop in and make something bold, bright and fabulous to wave in the parade.

🔹 Pride Prep
Join us as we finish off decorations and set pieces for the big day. Many hands make light work!

Whether you’re coming for a workshop, popping in for a quick make, or staying to lend a hand, everyone is welcome.

At the heart of it, there has always been a simple dream for Ragtags - creating connection through community arts and crafts 🫶

So when the Knit and Knatter group approached us about meeting here, we were delighted to be able to offer them a space.

Every Tuesday during term time, you’re invited to bring along your own project - knitting, embroidery or whatever creative work you fancy and enjoy a relaxed morning in the company of other crafty folk.

This is a self-led, informal group, so Ragtag doesn’t provide materials or instruction.

Simply bring your project, grab a brew (maybe a slice of cake) and enjoy some creative company!

Running every Tuesday 10am - 12pm until Tuesday 14 July 2026

We still have a few spaces available on our new course, which starts tomorrow, so there's still time to sign up!
