For today’s project, we’re showing you the journey behind a small bathroom design, from the starting point of an empty space, to our mood board, and finally to how those ideas come together in the actual room.

You know the feeling.

You walk into a shop, see a gorgeous lamp/chair/vase/cushion and immediately think:

“I NEED THIS.”

Do you?

Before you reach for your card, ask yourself these 3 questions:

✔️ Where exactly will it go?
Not “somewhere in the living room”. Where?

✔️ What is it replacing or adding?
If you can't answer this, there's a good chance you're just adding more stuff.

✔️ Does it work with what I already own?
A beautiful piece can still be completely wrong for your home.

Here’s the designer secret:

A beautiful item isn't automatically a good design decision.

Good interiors aren't created by buying more. They're created by choosing the right things.

So next time something catches your eye, don't ask:

“Do I love it?”

Ask:

“Will I still love it when I see it in my actual home?”

That's a much harder question. And a much better one.

How do you create a calm, sophisticated dining space that still feels layered and personal?

Use one dominant material + one repeating accent + varied textures.

This mood board shows how to create a layered, boutique-hotel feel by controlling pattern, colour and texture.

Repeat, then balance.

The easiest way to use multiple patterns is to repeat a visual element while varying the scale.

Standing in a theatre tonight, watching the applause, I was reminded that courage isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s simply having the nerve to create something, put it out there, and let it be seen.
