The Spirits Room at St. Regis Resort & Residences is a contemporary take on the traditional Cognac Room. A mirrored ceiling and sculptural lighting sit alongside lacquered timber, bronze detailing and bespoke artwork, lending the space a sense of classic elegance.

Reflecting on a week shaped by design, craftsmanship and exchange. Last week brought together conversations at the studio, including a visit from Medea 1905, material exploration and discoveries across Design Week.

Among them, an artisanal glassblowing demonstration, conversations with C&C Milano, Hector Finch and Chapter at the Design Centre, and time spent discovering new materials, makers and collections.

Alongside it all, new projects are taking shape in the studio, with plenty more to come.

Some ceilings tell stories. They reflect an era, a way of thinking, a sense of style, and offer an insight into the people who once inhabited a space.

Whether it be a dramatic arch in an Italian villa or an original hand-painted fresco, like those seen at Rosewood Munich, it is important to preserve historical details such as these, allowing them to remain an integral part of a space and offering a glimpse into its past.

Conceived as a reflection of Milan’s architectural past and the artistic energy of Brera, the subtle geometric forms within the guestroom rugs and arrival floor at Six Senses Milan offer a playful, contemporary interpretation of a Milanese classic.

The design draws on the city’s post-war modernist architecture and its distinctive use of intricate, repeating patterns, reinterpreting these influences to create a sense of rhythm and continuity throughout the hotel.
