Architecture has taken me to many remarkable places, and some of the most memorable have been tables.

Two days of fine dining, and two very different expressions of London at its finest. At Claridge’s, the quiet poise of an Art Deco dining room, with its graceful columns, glowing coffered ceilings and a golden pastry crowned with lobster. The next day, Benares, where royal Indian cuisine arrived with all its richness, colour and generosity, just steps from our studio in Berkeley Square.

To be an architect is never simply to enter a space. You read it, you feel it, and you remember it. A beautiful room and a beautiful plate share the same secret: harmony, proportion and care in every detail.
Claridge’s or Benares? An impossible difficult question to answer.
