For small bathrooms every bit of space counts and it is one of the hardest working rooms in your home.

These are the things I would always think about when designing a small bathroom.

1. the most efficient arrangement is basin, toilet and shower across the back wall. Don’t include a bath and a shower. It is much better to have a generous shower, keeps the bathroom open and spacious.

2. A full or half height shower screen will keep the space feeling more open.

3. Have full height cabinets to maximise your storage.

4. Always find space for a heated towel rail. I would have a dual fuel so you can have it on in the summer when you don’t have the general heating on.

5. Always install powerful mechanical ventilation. Not all bathrooms have windows so this is essential if you don’t have one. It should have a timer and a humidity sensor to detect moisture in the air. I would also get one that is fairly quiet especially if it is for your ensuite.

You know the feeling. The Pinterest boards, the paint samples on the wall, the growing list of decisions and no time to make them. Renovating a house while holding down a job and a family is a lot and can be overwhelming.

Every choice you make, you wonder if it will all work together. If you are staring down a renovation and quietly panicking, I can help. With a Design-only or a full-service, I take it off your plate.

Send me an email or book in a discovery call and tell me what you are working on.

This lovely client asked me for a beige kitchen. So I designed her a beige kitchen exactly as she asked. She was pleased with it.

Then I told her I had another version to show her. I showed her the same kitchen in this earthy red colour and she squealed with excitement. She told me she loved it. She asked me why I also did this version. I told her because I have seen the colours you wear, the colours in your artworks and the colourful inspiration images you gave me. They didn’t align with the safe beige colour you asked me to do.

She told me she didn’t feel brave enough to have this type of kitchen. If you plan to stay in your home for 8-10 years why not? The worst case is that you can paint it in 3 years if you change your mind.

If it’s your home, live with what makes you happy, not with what is safe and what you think you should do.

If you need help with being brave, book in a discovery call. Link in my bio.

Your rug is probably too small. It is the most common mistake I see and it is why a living room can feel cramped when the room itself is fine.

A rug should pull the seating together, not float in the middle of the floor. Front legs of every seat on the rug as a minimum. All four legs if you have the space. And wider than your sofa at each end, not the same length.

Under a dining table, allow 60 to 70cm past the edge on all sides so the chairs stay on it when they are pulled out.

If you are stuck between two sizes, go bigger. I have never thought a rug was too big.
What size is the rug in your living room? Tell me in the comments and I will tell you if it is working.

A full install means we do everything for you.

This is a client’s second home in Kent. They handed us the keys and we did the rest, from design and sourcing, organising the trades, through to the install and finishing touches.

People always underestimate the how much is involved in a full renovation. The logistics of purchasing everything you have designed and sourced, the trades, installing every item and even removing the packaging!

With a full design and install everything is taken care of for you.

The coats had to go.

This hallway started with crumbling walls and total chaos for my clients. It was functioning as a dumping ground for everyone’s jackets, which made the space feel cramped and stressful every time we walked in the door.

The solution? We relocated everything to a new dedicated boot room.

By moving the storage, we gained the space to add real character swapping the pile of coats for a console table, a statement mirror to bounce the light, and an updated radiator.

Now, instead of a cloakroom, it’s actually a welcoming entrance.
