30 years ago today...
How has it been 30 years of hurt since we sang about 30 years of hurt!?
Gazza flicked it over Colin Hendry, volleyed it past Andy Goram, and gave us one of the greatest moments in England football history.
And then came the Dentist Chair.
Euro '96 wasn't just about football. It was a glorious hot summer, long before smartphones and social media. I was 17, had absolutely zero responsibilities, and it was the first major tournament I was old enough to watch in the pub.
When Gazza scored that goal against Scotland, the place erupted. By the end of the afternoon, half the town was doing a conga around Crown Square. It felt like the whole country was having the time of its life.
