Back in stock 🎉 These stoles are handwoven in Kutch, Gujarat using a craft technique called extra weft weaving. They are made using organic kala cotton - indigenous to Kutch and one of the few genetically pure cotton species remaining in India! The cotton is hand-picked, hand spun and hand dyed using natural dyes before being handwoven into these beautiful textiles, encouraging a sustainable way of preserving agriculture and artisan livelihoods in Kutch. New in are our delicately embroidered items from Kutch. Available are glasses cases, coin purses, pencil cases, decorative bells and bags at a variety of sizes.

Kutch is India’s largest district in the western state of Gujarat and is home to 21 types of textile and non-textile craft traditions. The region is made up of various communities, each with its own distinct embroidery styles.

We’re hiring! 🎉 Could you be part of our friendly retail team here on Saturdays? 🛍️ Country & Eastern is the shop for the South Asia Collection Museum. We specialise in the retail of ethically sourced crafts from South Asia and surrounding countries.

Job Role:
• Serving customers, including use of till
• Responding to telephone enquiries and online orders
• Upkeep of shop displays and day-to-day housekeeping
• Will involve lifting and moving objects and shop stock.
