This Bow Made My Day! 🎀

Sometimes the smallest creative wins are the most satisfying.

Today I learned how to tie a beautifully balanced bow—without a single drop of glue! I slowed a wonderfully clear Docrafts tutorial down, followed it step by step…and look what happened! Ding d**g!

This lovely, bronze ribbon deserved a little moment of its own, so l’ve styled it with some vintage silk threads, old music, buttons and wooden beads from yours truly’s studio 😜

A lovely reminder that creativity doesn’t need to be rushed. Slow it down, enjoy the process and celebrate the result.

The idea grows 🌱📖. My Antony and Cleopatra book was the very first test run - an experiment to see whether the idea l had in my head would work. This is the next stage: refining it, extending it and adding more colour, crafty bits and texture! I find that creative ideas rarely arrive completely finished. They develop as you experiment, though playing around we can discover what else s truly possible - and that for me, is one of the most exciting parts of getting creative n crafty! The Storybook Succulent is taking shape…….

I had such fun transforming this old copy of Antony and Cleopatra into something completely unexpected! ♻️📖🌵 Giving everyday readers ejects a new lease of life and purpose is definitely one of my favourite things to do - is this something you’d love to make to?

From plain and forgotten to beautifully upcycled! ✨. This vintage-style bauble workshop will be one of the creative experiences available soon through the new Getting Crafty with Vanessa website! Whoop, whoop 🎉
Transform an unloved bauble using colourful beads, buttons, old jewellery and other vintage finds. Every decoration will be completely unique, with plenty of opportunity to add your own personal touch.

I HAVE PLANS FOR THESE! ✨💡👀 Give me a scrap store, charity shop, bargain bin, you name it l’m in my happy place….. These are a few of my recent finds - beads, vintage bits, INCREDIBLE hangers, postcards and a rather lovely magnifying glass. To some people they might just seem like “stuff”, to me, they are the beginning of such excited, liberation and crafty freedom, all rolled into the one! That’s one of my favourite parts of Getting Crafty with Vanessa - looking at everyday, inexpensive or pre-loved items and thinking: “What could this become?” I’d LOVE to know - which one would YOU pick first and what would you make with it? ♻️ Creative upcycling ✨ Unexpected finds 💡 Simple ideas with a twist 🙌 and plenty of experimenting!

This is what was in the bag!

All the things l took into Future Radio Norwich yesterday. From upcycled treasures and colourful giant beads to handmade decorations, each item tells a story and more than doable even if you have never crafted before 👍🤟

It’s amazing what a few simple materials, a bit of imagination and a dollop of getting creative can achieve.
