Some new things have landed in The Craft Pantry… including the first little hint of autumn! 🍂🎃

Today I’ve been adding some new crafts to our recipe book, including this rather lovely decoupage pumpkin. It’s a chunky 15cm pumpkin which you can completely transform using beautiful patterned napkins and decoupage. I have a feeling we’re going to see some VERY different pumpkins coming out of the studio over the next few weeks!

We’ve also added lots more choices for our little crafters aged under 6, including mini treasure chests, unicorn mirrors, wildlife wind chimes, fairy doors and wooden rockets. These are £4 each or any 3 for £10, so they can choose one or settle in for a proper little crafting session.

Some of these have actually been hiding in The Craft Pantry for a couple of weeks already because, as usual, I’ve been much better at adding new things than I have been at telling you about them. 😂

And while I’m talking about The Craft Pantry, I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came and crafted with us over the summer. ❤️ We’ve had such a brilliant summer upstairs, with families, friends, children, grown-ups, regulars and lots of people discovering The Craft Pantry for the first time. I’ve absolutely loved seeing what you’ve all made.

And this is just the start of our seasonal additions. I’ve got more autumn crafts planned over the coming weeks, followed by plenty of festive ones as we head towards Christmas. 🍂🎄

You can’t give someone a beautiful gift without a beautiful card to go with it… 💌

We know so many of you come to Sage and Salt Studio when you’re looking for a gift that feels a little bit special, so we’ve expanded our card collection too!

Every card we stock is artist-made, with designs from some of our wonderful local artists alongside a small selection from other independent UK artists we’ve fallen in love with.

Birthday, thank you, congratulations, new baby, wedding, just because… or the card that’s so lovely you buy it with absolutely no idea who you’re going to give it to. 😂

There are lots of gorgeous new designs in the gallery now, alongside plenty of your favourites.

Because the card shouldn’t be an afterthought. It’s part of the gift. ❤️

Well… the C-word is officially out. 😂🎄

Our BRAND NEW October, November & December Workshop Guide arrived today, and it is absolutely packed with things to make, learn and look forward to over the next few months.

And when we say packed… almost HALF of the brochure is dedicated to festive workshops! 😳🎄

We know it’s only the 4th September, but our Christmas workshops have actually been quietly appearing on the website for a little while now, and some are already booking up quickly.

So, with the arrival of the brochures, we’re declaring the autumn and festive workshop season officially OPEN! 🍂

There is SO much to choose from, whether you fancy trying something completely new, making your own Christmas decorations and gifts, or simply escaping for a few hours of creativity and a cuppa.

And don’t forget, we can also arrange private creative gatherings for groups of friends, families, work teams, Christmas get-togethers and celebrations. So if you’d rather get your favourite people together and have the studio to yourselves, just get in touch. 🥂🎨

Meet our September Guest Artist, Karen Katon-Oprey Hark Art & Illustration

We’re so excited to welcome Karen as the very first artist to take over our brand new Guest Artist of the Month wall!

Karen is a contemporary artist and illustrator based in West Sussex, creating beautiful landscapes and seascapes inspired by the landscapes, coastline and natural beauty of southern England.

Working predominantly in acrylics, her paintings have a wonderfully soft, impressionistic feel. We absolutely adore her colour palette and the way she uses loose, expressive brushwork, colour and light to capture not just a view, but a feeling of place, memory and atmosphere.

And it seems you love them just as much as we do... four of Karen’s paintings have already sold and we’re only on day three! 🥹

Karen’s creative career has also seen her artwork and illustrations commissioned by names including Cunard, Wanderlust Magazine, POB Hotels and The British Travel Journal, with her greetings card designs sold nationally through John Lewis and Waitrose.

Her wall really is beautiful, so make sure you have a proper look next time you’re in. Although judging by the first three days, we’re not entirely sure how long some of these paintings are going to hang around! 👀

🏆 WE’VE BEEN SHORTLISTED! 🏆
We are absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted for Best Retailer in the Petersfield Awards 2026!

For the past two years, you lovely lot have voted us Best New Business, so to now find ourselves shortlisted for Best Retailer, before we’ve even reached our third birthday, feels pretty special.

Especially when you see the company we’re in! We’re shortlisted alongside Hector’s, Jake’s Toys and One Tree Books, three fantastic independent Petersfield businesses. It genuinely feels like an achievement just to see Sage and Salt Studio amongst those names.

One of the comments from our nominations was:
“A very challenging year with knockbacks, but are going from strength to strength, and the community engagement with the My Happy Place community exhibition is really commendable.”
That one meant a lot. ❤️

There have certainly been a few challenges behind the scenes this year, but there has been SO much good too. Our workshops are going from strength to strength, The Craft Pantry is becoming exactly the creative space we hoped it would be, and My Happy Place was one of our favourite things we’ve ever done. Seeing our community come together to create that exhibition was incredibly special.

HELLO SEPTEMBER 👋🍂

And hello to a rather magnificent new face looking out over the gallery… 🦉

Our September Artist of the Month is Jay Foster, and he has created something rather special for the occasion.

This incredible owl is a whopping 1m x 1m and, amazingly, it’s the biggest piece Jay has ever drawn! He usually works on a much smaller scale, creating beautifully detailed coloured pencil drawings inspired by British wildlife, but when we asked him to create a statement piece for our Artist of the Month wall, he decided to go BIG.

And apparently, he thoroughly enjoyed it!

Jay is a self-taught wildlife artist based in Ash, Surrey. He rediscovered his love of drawing during lockdown in 2020 and now creates incredibly detailed work that captures not just how an animal looks, but its expression, character and personality too.

If you’re passing Sage and Salt Studio this month, make sure you look up when you walk through the door. You really can’t miss this one! 🦉

A little update to our opening hours! 🕰️
From tomorrow, our new opening hours will be:
Monday – Friday: 10am – 4.30pm
Saturday: 9am – 5pm

Over the past couple of years we’ve got to know your visiting habits pretty well, and we’ve found that very few of you are early birds during the week! 😄 So we’re tweaking our opening hours slightly to better reflect when you actually tend to visit us.

Saturdays are staying exactly as they are, with the gallery open 9am – 5pm.

So if you’re planning a visit from tomorrow onwards, just remember: 10am during the week, 9am on Saturdays.
