Minimalist architecture is a design philosophy that emphasizes simplicity, clarity and the idea that "𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚." It focuses on reducing a structure to its essential elements - 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢, 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩, 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚 - while removing anything unnecessary or overly decorative.

"𝘼 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙇𝙄𝙁𝙀"

Does your home feel constricted, stuck in the past century or discrepant with your family’s lifestyle? That being the case, a 𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 is likely worth considering.

The challenge of the project, without a drastic renovation as a premise, was to 𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨, without the need for structural augmentation, transform the existing architectural exterior and interior form into 𝙢𝙤𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙣 𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙮𝙡𝙚 and to have a 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣 and 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙗𝙪𝙙𝙜𝙚𝙩 during the renovation process.

"𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺"

Tropical Modernism - a style of architecture where the 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆/𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 is indicative in a design. This combination creates a stunning and high-performance design with an 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 but a familiar local charm, a style where the Architects tried to create and emulate in this particular project.

The project – “Two-Storey Residence with Deck”, located in Daraga, Albay was designed by the Architects essentially to be a natural defense against the harsh elements of the tropical climate, while maximizing the advantage of living in a warm and sunny environment. The Architects focused on the 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 by adopting the clean aesthetic of modern architecture.

"𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗩𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆"

This type of “𝗠𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱-𝘂𝘀𝗲 (𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹/𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹) 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴", the 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 located in Legazpi City, was designed by the Architects to stand out for their ability to 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲 by attracting multiple tenants within a one building. By integrating residential and commercial functionalities, the project offers a diverse revenue stream for developer and investor. The presence of various business operations alongside multi-family residential units ensures a constant flow of people and activities, creating a vibrant community hub. This economic model designed by the Architects, not only maximizes land use but also 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆’𝘀 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲, considering the blend of different types of spaces it houses.
