I’ve been working on redesigning my cat mugs so the bottom is more round; because what cat has a flat bottom? I really like the softer feel and the way it elevates the mug just a bit. I’ll have this new design along side the original at the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, The Original.
Mark your calendars - July 16-18, Downtown Ann Arbor.

Mugshot Monday! I love when the layers of glaze make their way through the carvings like moving through a maze. Mark your calendar now for the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, The Original - July 16-18. I’ll be there with the Ann Arbor Potters Guild in our usual spot in the giant shaded tent next to Hill Auditorium.

Mugshot Monday! These new mosaic mugs feature deep, fractured glaze panels ranging from moody ocean blues to rich earth tones and striking violet. Each one has its own distinct rhythm, but they look so right sitting together. Which one is your favorite?

The morning after a firing is always a test of patience. ☀️ Once the temp drops enough, it’s time to open the ports and slide the damper to help the air circulate. It’s a slow process, but rushing the cool-down is a recipe for heartbreak. Just a few more hours until these pieces are ready for glazing!

There is nothing quite like the glow of a kiln at peak temp with the cones bending to the heat.🔥 We hit our target, and now it’s time to shut it down and let the heat dissipate. The long wait for the unload begins now.

Mugshot Monday! This mug is a beautiful example of how high-heat chemistry meets intentional hand-building. The interplay between the glazes and the slip trailed dots creates a rich, organic movement that feels both grounded and otherworldly.
