Sneak Peek of the Week!!
🦋 A little table with a lot of wing appeal just flew in!

With its gorgeous, polished finish, rich, glowing wood grain, graceful cabriole legs, and clever butterfly design, this console table is proof that good looks and practicality can go hand in hand. ✨

It’s the sort of piece that makes an entrance without ever needing to spread its wings too far!

Be the first to see this beauty at Streets of London Antiques and let it flutter its way into your home and spread antique charm. 😉

Historical Theory: Once unfolded this butterfly table turns into the perfect game table and there is a possibility that Kenny Rogers was sat at this table when he came up with the lyric "You've got to know when to fold 'em" now mistakenly thought to refer to cards when it was actually the table he was singing about!

This lamp may or may not have inspired the Hershey's Kiss.

We have absolutely no evidence of this whatsoever... apart from the suspiciously chocolate-drop-shaped base, the warm caramel glow, and the fact that it looks good enough to eat.

Coincidence? We'll let you decide! 🍫💡but every time we look at it, we have a craving for some melty deliciousness! "We're not saying Milton S. Hershey saw this lamp and invented the Hershey Kiss... we're just saying nobody has proven otherwise." 😏😁

Let’s Get a Handle on History! 🗝️🚪

Ever stopped to think about antique furniture k***s? They are the jewelry of the furniture world! 💎
At Streets of London Antiques, you can become a "k**bby-know-all" with all the varieties and eras we have to discover.
From dainty porcelain and ornate glass k***s to chunky brass pulls, wooden handles and fancy Victorian hardware, every era has its own "pulling power!"
Really old stuff often had no k***s at all, with just a key for a handle! Put a tassel on and voila you have a statement piece! Also, you won't lose the key!
So, are you a k**b person, a pull person, or do you prefer to keep things under lock and key? 😉
Next time you’re browsing in store or at our shop online, take a closer look at the k***s, pulls and locks. You might just find yourself "drawn in" by the details! 😂

🍺 Meet the characters who never leave the pub!

From cheerful Toby jugs to literary jugs inspired by famous characters, English pottery has never been short on personality.

These aren't your ordinary pouring and drinking vessels. With their oversized noses, extravagant hats and wonderfully expressive faces, they're little ceramic snapshots of English humor and history.

Some represent the jovial fellows of 18th-century tavern life; others bring famous characters and personalities right to your mantelpiece.

And the best part? No two characters seem to have quite the same story to tell!

Come meet a few characters of your own at Streets of London Antiques. We promise they're much better company than your average jug. 😉

HISTORY:
Toby jugs became popular in England during the 18th century, particularly in Staffordshire pottery. The original figure is commonly associated with the jovial, hard-drinking 18th-century Englishman, though the precise origin of the name remains debated.
Early examples were often salt-glazed stoneware or earthenware; later versions used colorful glazed earthenware and porcelain. We have a rare treacle glaze Toby.
When you visit England you will see them hanging behind any proper pub bar. Now you'll know what they are! You're welcome.
