Who says a home elevator has to be just paneling and paint?

For this project, we wanted to make stepping into the elevator a fun little experience for guests, with something interesting to look at on the way up or down.

We found an old map of the Balboa Peninsula and wrapped it around the entire elevator, so there’s always something to discover, whether it’s a familiar home, street, or landmark.

A fun little surprise in a place you wouldn’t necessarily expect it!

A little behind-the-scenes look at a new project we’re working on in Balboa Peninsula!

We’ve been busy making stone selections, and tile is starting to go up. It’s always exciting to see the materials we’ve spent so much time choosing finally make their way into the space.

We’re not saying a pretty laundry room makes doing laundry fun, but it certainly doesn’t hurt.

We had a little fun with the wallpaper and patterned floor in this one, while keeping everything practical for everyday use.

Staircases are functional by nature, but when thoughtfully designed, they can become a beautiful, sculptural form between floors.

This staircase was designed by architect Richard Krantz Architecture and fabricated by Haskell. The care and attention that went into every baluster, with each angle carefully studied from every floor, is what makes this staircase look so effortless.

We are so impressed by what this team accomplished.

Lighting is one of those places where we like to have a little fun.

For this project, we chose pieces with interesting shapes, materials and a few unexpected details. From specially cast shell sconces to a sea sponge-inspired fixture, each one brings a little personality of its own.

Sometimes the light fixture really can be the art!

We’ve carried Jan Barboglio in the shop for a long time, and there’s a reason we keep coming back to it.

The pieces are made in Mexico by artisans using techniques that have been passed down for generations. There’s hand-forged iron, blown glass, carved wood and lots of little details that remind you these weren’t made by a machine.
