Where does an interior designer find inspiration when she’s not designing?

Lauren’s creativity doesn’t clock out at the end of the workday. Hobbies, experiences, favorite places, colors, textures, and everyday interests can all shape how she sees a room and approaches a new project.

In this carousel, we’re putting Lauren’s design mood boards side by side with a few glimpses of life off the clock. Swipe through to see the connections between what she creates and what inspires her.

Your dream space might be closer than you think.

Creating a room you love doesn’t always mean changing everything. The right combination of layout, color, lighting, finishes, and furnishings can transform how a familiar space looks and, more importantly, how it feels to live there every day.

At Lauren Walters Interiors, we approach each project by considering what already works, what needs to change, and what will make the finished room feel personal to the people who call it home.

If there’s a space you’ve been dreaming about transforming, schedule a complimentary consultation at laurenwaltersinteriors.com.

A room can embrace rich color, pattern, and contrast while still feeling warm enough to settle into.

Deep blue walls give this space its dramatic foundation, balanced by the warmth of leather seating and natural wood. A vibrant patterned rug introduces even more color, while brass accents, artwork, and collected objects give the room a sense of history and personality.

Rather than asking every element to match, the design allows different materials, colors, and pieces to complement one another. The result feels layered, comfortable, and personal.

A great color palette can start with a single element that inspires the entire room.

In this mudroom, Lauren used a whimsical wallpaper as the foundation for the color story. Cobalt blue and light pink pulled directly from the pattern appear throughout the space, helping individual elements feel connected rather than competing for attention.

When you begin with something you genuinely love, it can provide direction for everything that follows, especially when you want to incorporate bolder colors into your home.

An unfinished room can look like a blank canvas, but we’re already thinking about everything it could become.

Long before the furniture arrives and the final details are styled, there are decisions to make about how a space should function, flow, and feel. This stage gives us the opportunity to understand our clients’ vision and develop a design that can bring it to life.

Sometimes you know exactly what you want. Sometimes you just know the space needs to change. Either way, that’s where the design process begins.

This kitchen proves that color and pattern can have a place in a space designed for everyday living.

Juniper-painted cabinetry gives the room its distinctive color story, while a checkered tile floor introduces pattern and movement. Additionally, a built-in bar and bookshelf add functionality while creating another opportunity to give the space character.

Together, these details create a kitchen that feels layered and personal while still supporting everything that happens here day to day.

Custom built-ins can do much more than provide storage. They can help define the entire room.

For this living space, the custom bookshelf was designed to feel integrated into the architecture rather than added after the fact. Generous shelving creates room for books and collected pieces, while custom lighting draws attention to the display and adds another layer of warmth to the space.

The result is a functional feature that also becomes one of the room’s primary design moments.
