π£ Sushi Rolls (Maki) π±
A fun and delicious homemade sushi roll recipe, perfect for impressing your friends or family! π₯’β¨
π Ingredients (Makes 4 rolls)
2 cups sushi rice π
2 1/2 cups water π§
1/4 cup rice vinegar πΆ
2 tbsp sugar π
1 tsp salt π§
4 sheets nori (seaweed) πΏ
1 avocado, sliced π₯
1 cucumber, julienned π₯
200g (7 oz) fresh sushi-grade salmon or tuna, sliced π
Soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger (for serving) π₯’
π©βπ³ Instructions
1οΈβ£ Cook the Sushi Rice:
Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rice and water in a pot, bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
2οΈβ£ Season the Rice:
In a small saucepan, heat the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Gently fold this mixture into the cooked rice. Let it cool to room temperature.
3οΈβ£ Prepare the Fillings:
Slice the avocado, cucumber, and fish into thin strips.
4οΈβ£ Assemble the Sushi Rolls:
Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread a thin layer of rice over the nori, leaving a 2 cm (1 inch) border at the top. Add your fillings (avocado, cucumber, and fish) in a line across the rice.
5οΈβ£ Roll the Sushi:
Using the bamboo mat, roll the sushi tightly from the bottom, pressing gently as you go. Seal the edge with a bit of water.
6οΈβ£ Slice and Serve:
Use a sharp knife to cut the roll into 6-8 pieces. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
