We first worked on this Hidden Hills home more than 20 years ago, so coming back meant working with some old friends, including this George Smith chaise.

For this chapter, we added a handmade wool-and-silk carpet and swapped one large coffee table for two smaller Gregorius Pineo tables. The room works better now, but still feels very much like the home we’ve known all these years.

The closer you get, the better this piece becomes. We found this console through Phillips Collection, where the natural wood is set into a crisp black metal frame and every knot, edge, and irregularity gets to remain part of the design.

There’s something special about feeling completely tucked away while still being surrounded by the outdoors.

Windows on two sides surround the soaking tub with views of the trees, giving the bathroom an open feeling while still keeping it private and sheltered.

Apparently, getting every space to have its own personality while still being friends with the room next door involves a lot of math.

In this case, an old favorite sofa from our clients’ previous home became part of the equation, helping us define the living and dining areas without putting up a single wall.

Finding the balance between crisp modern lines and materials that bring in a little warmth. Here, pale wood cabinetry and marble keep the kitchen clean and tailored, while woven counter stools add just enough texture to soften it all.

A little wallpaper here, some color there, and a lot less white. This renovation came together through dozens of small changes rather than one big gesture, which is really what gave the house the warmth and personality it was missing.
