Hopefully, you’re getting the idea but let me break it down because a kit he requires a lot more…of everything…
Design: layouts, cabinetry and all details; plans are drawn, finish & fixture selections and procurement (and there are a lot of those in a ktichen!), construction management, installation, and styling of all the pretty details including window treatments and decorative touches.

“What is full-service design?”
How does it apply to a guest bathroom renovation?
Of course we designed all aspects of the space, drew plans, made all the selections and mananged the construction.
But this beautiful new guest bathroom would have been unfinished without the perfect statement mirror, a custom shower curtain, new towels, bath mats, in this case a stunning antique rug, artwork hug and accessories placed.
And to truly add a full-service guest suite experince, the attached guest bedroom got new paint, custom window treatments and bedding.

The only thing the homeowner had do to was invite their favorite house guest to come enjoy.😊

“So what does ‘full-service design’ mean?,” specifically in renovation?
I’m a visual learner, so I thought a week of examples would be the best way to explain it.
Let’s start with an easy one.
A living room / family room.
We redesigned the fireplace, mantle and built-ins to an updated, yet timeless, design that fit the property, the home and the homeowners style. We also got rid of the heavily faux finished walls that closed the space in and dated it drastically.
So where does the “full-service” part come in?
We started wiith design, drawing the plans, selecting all the finishes; we also managed the construction process, then we furnished the entire space with furniture, custom window treatments, rugs, lamps and even accessories, and finally, we installed it all! From furniture delivery and rug placement, down to styling the built-in shelves, and finding the perfect spot for the dog bed.
And all of these items, (ok not the dog bed, this time, because these sweet pups loved their current bed), were sourced, selected and purchased by SSD.
The home owner came home to a fully renovated, furnished, styled and ready-to-live-in home.
Full-Service indeed. 🤩

Another minor renovation with major impact!
Of course, when we do minor renovations to almost every room in a house, it becomes a bigger deal.
But when it’s for a wonderful client who has been waiting and ready to do it for years, it’s simply a pleasure to see the house transform and come to life again!

As your week comes to a close and you think about relaxing with your loved-ones this weekend (yes, this is totally how I relax - haha!) I want to sincerely thank you, my clients, friends, and followers... for all of your support...

Why does design matter in places like the laundry room? Or as I hear it asked most of the time, “Why would I want to spend any money in my laundry room?’
Simply put... Because you spend time in the laundry room. It’s part of your daily, or at least weekly, life, so it affects how you feel in your home, which is ultimately the point of residential interior design.
Even a minor “facelift” upgrade with paint, or wallpaper, flooring, and countertops will make a big difference. Then add in functional and beautiful organization and you will feel very different tackling those daily / weekly chores.
(I wish I had better pictures but still a favorite laundry floor!!)
