My Monstera deliciosa is at least five years old and its leaves are gigantic. It has inflorescences (“flowers”) for the first time. Swipe to see! There are seven inflorescences, but only one with their spathe (white petal) remaining. From what I’ve learned, it takes about a year for the fruit to ripen. I can hardly wait to try.

Nearly an entire bag of clay for this one.

A bag of clay is normally 25lbs/11kg. So one big bowl or 18 mugs with handles? Which would you choose?

Also, I've been thinking about offering one-on-one coaching for wheel throwers. An hour in my studio, focusing on a specific technique or topic: centering clay better - small or large amounts, a variety of methods to pull walls, different ways to make and attach handles, throwing with porcelain, ceramic glazes. Things like that, but I am open to ideas. Interested? Maybe you can help me out by forwarding this post to potters who might be interested?

Wheel thrown with a sublime black stoneware to accommodate top-heavy flowers.

As much as I enjoy the look of seamless glaze coverage, I also love working with gravity to create dynamic and abstract shapes. It does make kiln unloadings more exciting, if not a wee bit unnerving. Did you notice baby Yoda?

I see a dancer.

This is one of five 9” tall vases I made last month using Kentucky Mudworks‘ black stoneware clay. It’s one of my favorite clays to work with these days.

I’m keeping this one and two others have found a new home. I’ll post photos of the remaining two vases soon.
