Inspired by the home’s original midcentury architecture, this dining space makes a statement with distinctive “cubist” hand-painted walls — a nod to its history and character. A thoughtful refresh of the space also included newly upholstered chairs, a new rug, and a complementary light fixture. As part of a whole-home furnishings and decor project, Team CCID preserved pieces with personal and historical significance while introducing updates that give our client’s home a renewed sense of sophistication.

This Raleigh ranch kitchen was designed years ago and still feels fresh today.

Without significantly changing the original footprint, Team CCID reimagined the space by opening portions of two walls, reworking the layout, relocating the laundry area, and introducing custom cabinetry and classic, clean finishes. The kitchen is now a bright modern-traditional aesthetic that flows beautifully with the rest of our client’s beloved home.

Years later, our client came back to CCID to renovate her primary suite — a full-circle reminder that great design can continue to resonate long after a project is complete.

Here’s a new look at one of our favorite spaces from the complete transformation of this downtown Raleigh penthouse.

Designed for clients with an appreciation for global artisans and exceptional craftsmanship, their primary bedroom balances bold architectural details with luxurious comfort. A custom Italian walnut feature wall with marble and brass azalea inlays extends several feet onto the ceiling, amplifying the sense of height and grandeur. Sleek nightstands, sophisticated bedding, and custom Italian glass pendants further enhance its artistry.

Please meet one of the newest members of the Colorful Concepts Interior Design team, our Studio Manager, Summer Wegman.

Summer brings more than fifteen years of operational experience and a natural talent for keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. Detail-oriented by nature, she enjoys improving processes, creating efficiencies, and delivering an exceptional experience for both clients and team members.

Her love of architecture and interior design inspired Summer to combine her operational expertise with an industry she genuinely loves. She supports the creative team while helping to keep projects organized and on track, believing great design is supported by great operations and that the right structure allows creativity to thrive.

Outside of work, Summer enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring new coffee shops, tackling DIY home projects, and finding beauty in the little details that make everyday life feel special.

The Spanish Hacienda style of our client’s forever home runs deep. A defining throughline in this CCID custom build is the use of color and handcrafted Talavera-style tile. Here, in the secondary bathroom, the tile takes center stage, while more traditional design elements — such as the vanity and fixtures — balance its playful character. The result is a welcoming space for family and guests that feels both rooted in tradition and distinctly its own.

Designing a custom home is about more than creating beautiful rooms — it’s about the details that bring them to life. That’s one of our favorite parts of the design process.

Every vignette is an opportunity to reinforce the home’s design narrative while reflecting the family who lives there. A thoughtfully placed piece of art, a collected object from travels, or the interplay of texture and form... individually, they’re subtle. Together, they create rhythm, continuity, and a home that feels intentional and unique.

A soulful condo overlooking downtown Raleigh, with a distinct point of view.

With the city skyline as its backdrop, Team CCID designed every detail to complement the view rather than compete with it. In the living room, an existing column was transformed into a custom built-in fireplace and media feature, creating a striking focal point (swipe through for the “before”). Throughout, sculptural forms, layered textures, and subtle accents of color create a home that feels grounded and unmistakably personal.

Our retired client loved the charm and natural light of her Cary townhome, but the kitchen no longer reflected the way she lived or entertained. Team CCID reimagined the space by removing structural columns to create a more open floor plan, introducing custom two-toned cabinetry, expanding storage, and creating a kitchen where form and function work in perfect harmony.

This project was also featured on the HBA Spring Home Tour, giving visitors the opportunity to experience the transformation firsthand.
