Martine Paquin Design

Martine Paquin Design Martine Paquin Design Martine Paquin Design was established in San Francisco in 2008 with a focus on modern, sustainable, environmentally design.

The firm's most recent focus is on high-end single family homes in the Bay area and the Tahoe area. Our designs are contemporary, with clean lines. We pay close attention to the natural light balance and how it plays off the materials. The management of a project is crucial to its success. We pride ourselves on being open, flexible, and responsive to our clients.

In these bathrooms, the skylights became more than a source of natural light. They became part of the atmosphere of the space itself.

Throughout the day, light moves across the stone, softens the wood tones, and shifts the texture of the tile in ways artificial lighting never could.

These are the details we think carefully about during the design process. Not just how a space looks, but how it changes, responds, and feels to live in over time.

Set among the vineyards of Napa Valley, this project continues to evolve in close conversation with its surroundings.

The home’s modern agrarian architecture inspired a palette of warm tones, natural wood, and black steel details, layered with moments of bold color and strong form throughout the interiors.

Every decision has grown from careful research, collaboration, and a desire to create a home that feels connected to place rather than imposed upon it.

We’re excited to share more as the project continues taking shape. View link in bio to discover more of our projects.

LAUNDRY RESET

The laundry room may not be the largest space in the home, but it’s often one of the hardest working.

This spring, we’ve been thinking about how thoughtful organization, natural materials, and restrained design choices can turn functional spaces into something calmer and easier to live with day to day.

Light wood tones, soft textures, hidden storage, and the scent of fresh lavender can completely shift the feeling of a routine space.

Good design supports everyday life, not just the rooms guests see first.

SPRING OUTING & GIVING BACK

Our annual spring outing in Marin was a reminder of how lucky we are to work alongside such thoughtful people.

We started the day volunteering with and learning more about their mission to support unhoused individuals through housing and community care. From there, we explored the Marin Headlands, visited , and ended the evening with a ferry ride back to San Francisco.

Grateful for this team and the opportunity to step away from the studio together for a day of connection, perspective, and giving back.

XO,
Martine

Materials Matter

Materials shape the feeling of a home long before furniture or styling enters the space.

The texture of stone, the warmth of wood, the way light moves across a surface. These details influence how a space feels every single day.

At Martine Paquin Design, we prioritize materials that are lasting, sustainable, and connected to the way our clients live.

Good design should feel beautiful now and still feel right years from now.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION
ATHERTON ADU

The finishing touches are beginning to take shape at our Atherton ADU project.

Lighting installation always marks an exciting moment in the process. It’s where the atmosphere of a space truly begins to come alive. The warmth, scale, materials, and placement of each fixture help define how the home will feel day to day.

As we move toward completion, every detail is being carefully considered to support a space that feels modern, grounded, and connected to the way our client lives.

We can’t wait to share the finished project.

Golden Gate Retreat

Our clients wanted their condo near Golden Gate Park to feel like an escape from the pace of the city. They had an overall goal: to create an environment that feels like a release from the city the moment you walk through the door.

What we love most about this project is not one singular moment, but how connected everything feels. Warm, modern, and thoughtfully designed.

Las Vegas Design: From the Ground Up

This hilltop home in Las Vegas blends indoor and outdoor living through a central courtyard and open-sky atrium.

We’re keeping the material palette warm with oak, terracotta, and natural textures, then layering in playful furnishings and moments of color to bring energy throughout the home.

One of our favorite details so far is the custom entry screen in traditional grown clay and wood. It creates an immediate sense of texture, light, and arrival from the moment you enter.

Now that the weather is warming up, Nova and I are getting back to one of our favorite things, paddle boarding on the lake.

I try to get out as often as I can. The Sierra has so much to offer, especially those cold, fresh lakes early in the morning when everything feels still.

Some days it’s a larger lake with a bit more energy. Other days it’s a smaller, tucked-away spot that feels completely removed.

As long as it’s fresh water, I’m happy. And I’m lucky to have a dog who loves it just as much as I do.

This home is about material.

Western red cedar runs through the main spaces and sets the tone. It brings warmth, depth, and a sense of continuity that carries from room to room.

Against that, the kitchen stays light and bright with Iitegrated luxurious appliances, natural stone, marble and quartz.

Everything is connected, but nothing feels repetitive.

That balance between warmth and contrast is what shapes the home.
