Novelty 20th Century solid silver …… cup, the cups design inspired by the early 16th century German example, modelled as a female figure supporting over her head a small domed swivelling cup and the lower cup half chased with beautiful floral scrolls.

The silver …… cup was created for use at wedding banquets, where the spouse drank wine from the bigger cup and offered his bride to drink from the smaller cup, avoiding pouring out its content.

A highly unusual and rare 19th Century Victorian English silver plated ………. ……… by Elkington & Co., dating to circa 1880. Crafted in the form of a medieval knight’s helmet, the piece is a fine example of the Gothic Revival style that enjoyed immense popularity throughout the latter half of the 19th Century.
The helmet is beautifully modelled with a polished visor, rope-twist borders, simulated rivets and a pronounced crest, all faithfully recreating the appearance of contemporary tournament armour. The wide opening beneath the visor provided access to the interior, where hot water could be placed to keep …….. …….. warm during formal dining. Resting upon an armoured gorget-style base, the design combines practicality with a strong decorative presence. Marked to the base of the piece with Elkington hallmarks, date letter “T”, dating to 1880.

Presenting Ayrton Senna’s final helmet design marks the beginning of his partnership with Williams-Renault, a combination widely expected to define the 1990s and further cement his position at the very summit of Formula One. Many believed he was poised to secure a fourth world title in 1994, with further championships likely to follow, potentially surpassing future records. Even Michael Schumacher acknowledged after Adelaide 1994 the significance of their rivalry and the scale of the challenge Senna represented. This helmet stands as a tribute to the legendary status Senna attained, a reputation that grew immeasurably following his tragic death at Imola in 1994. From that moment, his influence extended far beyond statistics. His intensity, conviction and rare magnetism left an imprint on the sport that remains unmatched, and perhaps unrepeatable.
Produced by Sid Mosca, the helmet is presented in its original box, mounted on a commemorative black base with an acrylic cover, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity corresponding to the edition number on the reverse. Notably, it retains the correct beige velvet interior, faithful to the 1994 race-used specification, unlike many examples on the market fitted with a black lining. Thirty-one years on, this remains an essential acquisition for the serious motor racing collector.

Presenting a very rare sumo sized limited edition hardback by Annie Leibovitz & Keith Haring edition book on stand. Hand signed by Annie Leibovitz on the title page. It is in good condition and released in 2014.

When Benedikt Taschen asked the most important portrait photographer working today to collect her pictures in a SUMO-sized book, she was intrigued and challenged. The project took several years to develop and proved to be revelatory. Annie Leibovitz drew from over 40 years of work, starting with the viscerally intimate reportage she created for Rolling Stone magazine in the 1970s and extending through the more stylized portraiture of her work for Vanity Fair and Vogue. Celebrated images such as John Lennon and Yoko Ono entwined in a last embrace are printed alongside portraits that have rarely, and sometimes never before, been seen. Annie Leibovitz was able to present some of her famous group portraits in a format that proves that she is the master of the genre. Her pictures are at once intimate and iconic, wide-ranging stylistically and also uniquely hers. Annie Leibovitz is often imitated, particularly by younger photographers, but her work is somehow immediately recognizable.

The bookends of the Leibovitz collection are the black-and-white photograph of Richard Nixon’s helicopter lifting off from the White House lawn after he resigned as president in 1974 and the formal color portrait of Queen Elizabeth II taken in a drawing room of Buckingham Palace in 2007. In between are portraits that make up a family album of our time: actors, dancers, comedians, musicians, artists, writers, performance artists, journalists, athletes, businesspeople. Performance and power are recurring themes. A supplementary book contains essays by Annie Leibovitz, Graydon Carter, Hans Ulrich Obrist, and Paul Roth and short texts describing the subjects of each of the over 250 photographs.

A rare life-size 19th-century artist’s lay figure, French and beautifully wood carved, with articulated limbs and exceptionally detailed movable index fingers.
Lay figures have been prized by artists since the Renaissance, serving as studio models and symbols of artistic craftsmanship. By the mid-19th century, France became the centre of their production, and ownership was considered a mark of a serious artist.
This remarkable example survives in outstanding original condition, retaining its full articulation, rich patina, and character developed through decades of use. Life-size lay figures of this quality and scale are exceptionally scarce today.
Part artist’s tool, part mannequin, and an extraordinary conversation piece.
