New pieces. New applications. And so much more still to come for Transcend.
What an honor to see Transcend featured in a new blog post, Healing is in the Details, on the Biophilic Design Sourcing Hub, created by the Journal of Biophilic Design, a leading voice bringing together research, practice and inspiration in nature-connected design and advancing the conversation around how our environments can support human health and well-being.
This feature is especially exciting because it introduces some of the newest pieces in the Transcend collection, with even more in the works.
What began with nature-inspired imagery and fractal patterns brought to ligature-resistant, ADA-compliant hardware for high-risk behavioral health environments is continuing to grow.
The original collection itself includes multiple hardware forms and nature scenes, from levers and flush pulls to other specialized pieces, each requiring the imagery to be considered differently for its shape, scale, surface and function.
Now you’ll see Transcend expanding across entry doors, interior doors, glass door pulls, cabinetry and more, with new mixed-metal combinations, different treatments of light and dark within the etching, including reversals that shift which elements of the imagery emerge as highlights, and even more ways of adapting nature-inspired imagery across the different forms and surfaces of the hardware.
From imagery that spans paired glass door pulls to intricate patterns that continue across an entry door handle, part of the creative challenge (and fun) has been imagining how nature can be translated across completely different scales, proportions, shapes and surfaces while allowing each piece to become its own composition.
I have to give a special thank you to my husband, David, a hardware specialist who has spent his career designing and developing hardware in the fashion industry and helping shape the details behind major brands. His expertise, creativity and countless hours of work have been instrumental in helping me bring so many of these ideas to life visually.
