If you’ve been thinking, we really need to sort this house out, this might be a good time.

I currently have room in the studio for one new full-service residential project.

That might be a whole home that needs furnishing and pulling together, or a property requiring more substantial renovation. Either way, I’m looking for a project where we can consider the home as a whole.

This is for the family who doesn’t have the time or inclination to spend months researching furniture, comparing suppliers and making hundreds of individual decisions.

You might already own some beautiful pieces but struggle to pull everything together. You might have renewed the lease again and decided it’s time to stop treating your Singapore home as temporary. Or you may simply be ready to hand the whole thing over and have someone lead it properly.

That’s where I come in.

From the overall design direction through to renovation or furnishing, sourcing, procurement, installation and the final details, my role is to lead the process and bring the whole home together.

One project opening. If you think it might be yours, I’d love to hear what you have in mind.

A good design doesn’t start with choosing a sofa.

It starts with understanding the home, the people in it and what needs to change.

What do you already own that deserves to stay? Where are the frustrations? What’s missing? What is worth investing in, and where can we be more pragmatic?

These early conversations give us the framework for everything that follows. They help me edit the possibilities, set clear priorities and make decisions with the whole home in mind.

Because without that groundwork, it’s very easy to end up making a series of perfectly good individual choices that don’t quite add up to a considered home.

The design comes later. First, we work out what we’re solving.

A few things that made me stop and look.

Lighting, fabrics, furniture, floors, rooms, restaurants and details from Paris and London.

No particular theme here, other than that I liked them enough to photograph them.

Considering there are now more than 3,000 photos and videos on my camera roll, this is a fairly restrained edit. 😅

Photos by me, with sources and places tagged.

What an incredible couple of weeks!

Paris and London, from design fairs and extraordinary showrooms to private homes, meeting makers, beautiful restaurants, boat trips and plenty of wandering in between.

One of the things I love most about travelling for design is seeing things in person. Getting to know the people behind the collections, understanding how things are made and discovering places and ideas I might never have come across otherwise.

And then there are all the unexpected things that catch your eye along the way. A beautifully layered restaurant, an unusual colour combination, a wonderful piece of furniture or a detail you can’t stop thinking about.

I’ve come home feeling incredibly inspired, with new connections, a very long list of things to follow up on and over a thousand photographs and videos to sort through.

There’s so much more I want to share from this trip. This is just a little taste of it.

There’s a lot of temporary furniture in Singapore homes that ends up being anything but temporary.

You need a dining table, so you buy one quickly. It’s fine for now. After all, you’re only going to be here for two years.

Then you renew the lease. And renew it again. Five years later, you’re still living with the table you bought to tide you over for the first two.

It doesn’t mean every piece needs to be expensive. But there’s a difference between buying something because you need to fill a space and choosing something because it’s right for your home, you love it, and you’d happily take it with you to the next one.

I’d rather see my clients buy fewer, better pieces and build a home over time than keep making temporary decisions because they don’t know exactly what comes next.

You don’t need to know how long you’re staying to make good decisions about the home you’re living in now.

A rather wonderful afternoon in Paris with Pierre Frey.

We visited their newly opened standalone furniture showroom before spending time with Pierre Frey, grandson of the founder, and Patrick Frey, Creative Director, hearing about the company, the inspirations behind the collections and the extraordinary archive they have to draw from.

And, of course, there were fabrics and wallpapers. Lots of them.

This is one of my favourite parts of visiting the design houses I work with — getting beyond the finished product and understanding the people, history and ideas behind it.

It’s very different seeing and touching a fabric in person, but also about hearing the story of how it came to be.

A very good afternoon indeed.

“We’ll sort the house out once we know what we’re doing.”

I hear versions of this a lot.

People come to me after years of putting their home off. They weren’t necessarily planning to leave it that long. They just kept waiting for a little more certainty — whether they’d renew the lease, move somewhere else in Singapore, buy, or leave altogether.

In the meantime, you make do.

You buy what you need when you need it. Some pieces have followed you from previous homes. Others were bought quickly because you needed a dining table, a sofa or a bedside table — and Singapore was only supposed to be temporary anyway.

Then the temporary piece is still there five years later.

Eventually, the house becomes a mixture of things you love, things that are fine, and things you never really intended to keep. It hasn’t been considered as a whole.

And this is usually when I get the call: I still don’t know how long we’re going to be here, but I’m tired of living like this. I just want to get it done.

That doesn’t necessarily mean replacing everything. But it does mean being deliberate about what stays, what goes, what’s missing and where it’s worth investing.

I’d rather help someone buy fewer, better pieces — chosen for their quality, proportion and longevity — than keep filling a home with temporary solutions because the future isn’t certain.

You may never know exactly what happens next. But your home doesn’t have to stay in limbo while you wait.

A wall light that feels both old and new.

I love the verdigris finish on this one, but it’s the form that really gets me. Cast bronze, yet it looks almost as though it’s folding and wrapping around itself.

There’s something very Art Nouveau about the natural, flowing shape, but it still feels completely contemporary.

It’s inspired by the calla lily and made in Mexico City using traditional lost wax casting, which leaves those lovely traces of the making in the bronze.

Beautiful switched off. Even better switched on.

There’s an enormous amount of furniture, lighting, textiles, art and material out there. New makers, new collections, new suppliers worth knowing about… more than anyone outside the industry could realistically keep track of.

That’s not a problem my clients need to solve. It’s one of the things they’re actually paying me to handle.

In September, I’m heading to Paris and London for two weeks of exactly that: Paris Design Week, Maison&Objet, London Design Festival, plus the antique markets, showrooms and suppliers in between. Some of it is about finding specific pieces. This is building the library I draw from when a project needs something particular — a maker, a material, a supplier I can trust.

This doesn’t show up as a line item. It’s part of the research that happens long before a project starts, and it’s part of why the right piece tends to turn up when a project actually calls for it.

I’ll be sharing bits of it as I go, I’d love for you to follow along.
