Sorella at Loretto Heights presented an opportunity to do more than transform a historic building. It meant rethinking how a place with such a strong identity could serve people in a completely new chapter. We took a human-centric approach to the design, considering how residents move through the building, where they gather, where they retreat, and what makes a space feel intuitive and welcoming. The result was a new residential experience centered around the way people live today.

What makes a piece of art resonate with us? Research in neuroaesthetics shows how the context surrounding a piece, along with our memories and experiences, can shape our response to it. As a designer, I see that as part of art’s power in a space - beyond its visual impact, it can evoke emotion and give a room a deeper sense of identity.

Last week, our team came together for our annual TRIO Cares Day, a tradition that gives us an opportunity to step away from our usual work and give back to the Denver community. We volunteered with Food Bank of the Rockies, helping prepare and package food that will support individuals and families across Colorado. It was a meaningful day spent giving back, working together, and making an impact beyond the spaces we design. 🤍
