Rose quartz is one of those stones that never asks for attention but always gets it. The pink comes from tiny fibrous inclusions scattered through the quartz, which is why every strand carries its own particular blush, from barely-there pale to warm rosy tones.

Designers reach for it when a piece needs softness. It pairs naturally with pearls, clear quartz, and silver, and it holds its own next to darker stones when you want a quiet counterpoint. At a 7 on the Mohs scale, it wears beautifully in bracelets and everyday jewelry.

Before lapis lazuli was a bead, it was the most expensive color in the world.

For centuries, painters ground this stone into ultramarine, a pigment worth more than gold. Vermeer used it for the famous headscarf in Girl with a Pearl Earring, and Renaissance patrons had to specify in their contracts how much of it an artist was allowed to use.

The blue comes from lazurite, the gold flecks are pyrite, and the white veining is calcite. Every strand carries its own balance of the three, which is why no two lapis beads are ever quite alike.

Six thousand years of history, and it still stops people mid-scroll. 💙

One of the joys of working with natural stones is that no two beads are ever alike. Sometimes, if you look closely, the stone has little surprises waiting for you. ✨

One of our customers made this beautiful bracelet with crazy lace agate and matte obsidian. As she strung it together, she started spotting patterns hiding on the stone: a heart, a dog, even the letter "I". Put them all together and the bracelet spells out its own little message: I ❤️ 🐶

She gave it as a gift, and it was an instant hit. 🎁

✨ Stone Spotlight: Bronzite ✨

That warm golden shimmer? It's not a coating or polish. Bronzite's glow comes from microscopic plates of iron minerals inside the stone that catch the light, an effect known as schiller. 🌟

A few things you might not know about this earthy beauty:

🪐 Bronzite has been found in meteorites. This stone's mineral family has literally traveled through space.

🏛️ The Romans reportedly ground it into powder and carried it in amulets for protection and mental fortitude.

🥉 Despite the name, there's no actual bronze in it. It earned the title in the early 1800s purely for its burnished, metallic look.

🌳 Petrified Wood
A tree that became stone. 🌲 Silica replaced the wood fiber by fiber over millions of years, holding the growth rings in place while the organic material disappeared. The browns and reds come from iron in the ancient groundwater. 🍂
