Sundays at Munday Scientific? Yep, we're still talking microscopes! 🔬😄

We first started working with Andrew Crowther back when he was at University of California, San Francisco, and he's always been a big fan of his Leica necropsy scopes. Now at Virginia Commonwealth University, he recently picked up another one from us.

Today we finally got to meet in person while he was back in town visiting family. Great guy, great conversation, and another reminder of how many friendships this industry creates.

Thanks for stopping by, Andrew! Even on a Sunday afternoon, we're always on at Munday Scientific. 🔬🚚

A little microscope history shipped out with this Leitz Laborlux today. 🔬📚

This beautiful Leitz Laborlux is headed to its new home, and along with it, we're including an original Leitz manual that was dropped off yesterday by our good friend Greg Arcidino of Visual Instrument Products.

What made it even more special was spending time flipping through some of the other vintage manuals Greg brought by. They contained fascinating pieces of microscope history, including information about the merger of Wild and Leitz, industry events, and even documentation from a 1989 conference held at UNC Chapel Hill—just up the road from us and near where Scott Munday grew up.

These old manuals are more than instruction books. They're snapshots of the people, companies, innovations, and stories that helped shape the microscopy industry we know today.

As much as we enjoy refurbishing and preserving microscopes, we also enjoy preserving the history behind them. A microscope can last for decades, but the stories that come with them are just as important.

We hope the customer enjoys the Laborlux—and the surprise piece of microscope history that comes with it.

We had a great time at the Campbell University outreach clinic with Dr. Joe Cacioppo in Dunn, NC. We installed a new microscope system paired with a 4K monitor, and we know this setup is going to be a huge help for both the clinic and the students training there. 🔬

Dr. Joe and the team are helping expand the amazing work already being done through the Dunn United Ministerial Association, which has long provided food support for the community and is now adding health and human services as well.

One of the coolest parts of this program is that physicians and students will be working side-by-side, giving students valuable hands-on experience while helping serve patients in the community.

It’s awesome seeing Campbell University and Professor Joe Cacioppo doing big things for the area. We’re grateful to be a small part of it and can’t wait to see the impact this clinic has on the community. 💙

Full day at Munday Scientific today and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We had a great visit with Greg Arcidino from Visual Instrument Products all the way from Missouri — and he even brought his pup Jude by the shop. 🐶

We also had several other folks stop in throughout the day, installed a new system for a new clinic, and wrapped it all up with lunch with the crew. Days like this remind us how much we appreciate the relationships, teamwork, and community surrounding this industry.

We’re grateful for all the support and look forward to doing it all again tomorrow. 🔬🚚🍔

The new Unitron microFOCUS 4K system has been getting a lot of attention — and for good reason 🔍📺

If you’re in metrology, QC, manufacturing, machining, electronics inspection, incoming inspection, coin collecting, jewelry inspection, or precision parts evaluation, this system is an affordable and extremely versatile option.

The 4K image quality is sharp, smooth, and easy on the eyes, making long inspection sessions much more comfortable. The built-in measurement software, autofocus capabilities, integrated lighting, and stand-alone operation make it simple to get up and running without a complicated setup.

One thing we really like is the flexibility:
✔️ Standard pole stand
✔️ Boom stand options
✔️ Articulating arm configurations
✔️ Add a monitor or use your own screen
✔️ Save images and videos directly
✔️ Great working distance for handling parts during inspection

Whether you’re measuring machined components, inspecting solder joints, evaluating surface finishes, checking incoming parts, or examining collectible coins, the microFOCUS 4K delivers impressive performance without the massive price tag of many traditional metrology systems.

This is one of those systems that’s just FUN to use while still being a serious tool for production and inspection environments. 🔧⚙️🪙

🔬 We are having a lot of fun this week showing off the UNITRON microFOCUS 4K Digital Microscope! 🔬

This system is an awesome option for parts inspection, incoming inspection, electronics, industrial applications, quality control, and so much more. We’re seeing more and more customers move toward fully digital inspection setups because of the ergonomics, image quality, and ease of use.

The microFOCUS 4K is versatile, affordable, and incredibly user friendly. No more bending over eyepieces all day — this system allows you to inspect comfortably on a monitor while capturing stunning 4K images and video 💻

We especially love the fast autofocus, large working distance, and compact footprint. It’s a great fit for machine shops, manufacturing facilities, labs, and inspection stations looking for a modern digital solution without breaking the budget.
