Today, we pause to remember those we lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the extraordinary courage of the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away.

The Southport Fire Department’s memorial is a powerful reminder that even here in our small coastal community, we remain connected to that day and to the sacrifice, service, and unity it represents.

We remember the lives lost. We honor the heroes. And we remember how, in the days that followed, neighbors helped neighbors and communities came together as Americans.

May we continue to carry that spirit forward—supporting one another, appreciating those who serve our community, and never taking for granted the freedoms and people that make this country home.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Local artist Jan Sowers has brought us some fabulous new pieces, including three large 4-foot-wide coastal paintings—a beautiful blue crab and a pair of colorful fish that are sure to make an impact on a big wall.

We’ve also restocked Jan’s popular Southport sights tea towels, and we’re loving her newest creation—hand-painted hydrangea greeting cards. Send one to someone special or pop it in a frame for a sweet little piece of original art!

The days are getting a little shorter, which has us thinking about lighting!

At Coastal Cottage, lighting is about more than brightening a room—it’s another way to add personality to your home. And we have lots of options in store right now.

Local artist Heather Sullivan Harkey creates beautiful sconces, chandeliers and table lamps, while the local artists at Just Jellin’ turn jellyfish into truly unique lamps that are definitely conversation pieces.

You’ll also find solar lighting from Allsop Home & Garden, including tea lights, lanterns and more, plus nightlights, table lamps, floor lamps and plenty of other ways to add a little glow around your home.

Hello, September!

It’s the start of a new month and a new week at the Cottage—and there’s plenty to see. Several fabulous furniture pieces arrived last week, with even more on the way!

Whether you love the character of a beautifully upcycled piece or are looking for something newly built by one of our local craftsmen, we have lots of options in store—and custom pieces are always a possibility, too.

And furniture is just the beginning. The Cottage is full of lamps and overhead lighting, home dĂŠcor, local art, coastal finds and lots of unique gifts.

With the days beginning to get a little shorter, tomorrow we’ll shine a light on some of our favorite lighting in the shop. And later this week, we’ll share more about how our local artists and craftsmen can create something especially for you.

Some great new things arrived yesterday, and we’re especially loving Heather Sullivan Harkey’s new Sea Glass Suncatchers. They’re beautiful, coastal and just the thing to add a little color and sparkle to a window.

Also new inventory of our lobster rope doormats direct from Maine! Durable, colorful and made for coastal living. The navy, grey and yellow combination is a personal favorite—and especially perfect for any Navy or Georgia Tech fans out there! What's your favorite color combo?
